The faired, highway-happy one. A full fairing and screen take the windblast off your chest at speed, and you get proper Ninja sportbike looks. Slightly heavier and a touch more forward-leaning, but far more relaxed on fast roads and better for the occasional longer trip.

Where the Z650 wins
Ease and everyday agility. The upright naked position keeps weight off your wrists, gives a commanding view in traffic, and makes slow-speed work simpler, and at around 5kg lighter it feels a touch more flickable. It is also slightly cheaper, and with no fairing there is less bodywork to crack in a low-speed tip. If your riding is mostly urban and twisty back roads, the Z650 is the easier bike to live with.
Where the Ninja 650 wins
Wind protection and the look. At highway speed the Ninja's fairing and screen genuinely reduce fatigue, which matters if your commute includes fast roads or you take weekend trips. And for a lot of riders the full Ninja styling is the whole point: sportbike presence with a friendly, manageable engine underneath. You pay slightly more and accept a mild lean toward the bars, but it stays comfortable enough for daily use.
Which should you buy?
Buy the Z650 if you ride mostly in town, value light-and-easy handling, and want to spend a little less. It is the more relaxed everyday tool.
Buy the Ninja 650 if you do regular highway miles, want real wind protection, or simply love the Ninja look. Since the mechanicals are identical, this genuinely comes down to where you ride and how you want to sit, so sit on both if you can before deciding.
